TOWANDA — McPherson High’s volleyball team took care of business, then went on to root for the soccer team Tuesday night.
After making quick work of Clearwater (25-17, 25-17) and Circle (25-12, 25-19), the Bullpups cheered on the soccer team to its big win.
“At the end of the evening, both teams were loading in the parking lot onto their individual team bus,” MHS coach Christy Doile said. “The buses were parked side by side and the teams were clapping, cheering, chanting through the windows at each other. The winning Bullpup spirit was pretty special to see between the two teams.”
The Bullpups had plenty of spirit in their matches. Clearwater is approaching 30 wins on the year and has a hitter that is committed to Kansas State, Doile said. But the Bullpups ruled the action.
Against Circle, the Bullpups had to overcome an emotional Senior Night crowd for the T-Birds and MHS was down 4-0 in the first set before dominating. The second set also belonged to the Bullpups, who moved to 35-4.
MHS will go to Wamego for Class 4A sub-state play Saturday.
The JVs defeated Clearwater (25-12, 25-16), and Circle (21-25, 25-16, 25-18) to finish a splendid 31-4. Coach Diane Marshall said it was a team effort.
