Officers responded at 9:57 p.m. Thursday to a report of theft and criminal damage to property in the 500 block of West Kansas Avenue. A steel door on a building had been damaged and fireworks were taken from inside, though no owner has been identified for either the building or the fireworks. The suspect is a juvenile. Loss of the fireworks is estimated at $350. Damage to the door is valued at $200.
A deputy responded at 10:06 p.m. Thursday to a report of suspicious activity at 12th Avenue and Eisenhower Road. The deputy arrested Ann Monteen, Merrillville, Ind., on charges of driving while suspended, felony DUI and no proof of insurance. She was also cited for refusal of a breathalyzer test. Monteen was held in the McPherson County Jail in lieu of a $3,500 bond.
Firefighters and EMS personnel responded at 2:17 p.m. Thursday to an automatic fire alarm in the 700 block of East Elizabeth. It was found to be a false alarm.
LINDSBORG — Firefighters and an officer responded at 2:57 p.m. Thursday to a report of a vehicle fire at Soderstrom Elementary School. Firefighters found a tire on the vehicle had caught on fire due to a discarded cigarette butt igniting dried leaves under the vehicle. Damage was contained to the tire.
