  • HIGHLIGHTS McPherson police At 3:44 p.m. Thursday, an officer arrested Michelle R. Francis, 46, McPherson on a McPherson County District Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of smuggling contraband into a facility and a McPherson Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear. She was held in the McPherson County Jail in lieu of $7,100 bond. Sheriff Deputies and an officer took a report at 6:36 a.m. Thursday in reference to criminal damage to property in the 2300 block of Arrowhead Road. It is believed a vehicle drove through the gate of a business at that location during the overnight hours. Damage to the gate is estimated at $7,500. Area MOUNDRIDGE — An officer investigated at 8:34 p.m. Thursday a state-reportable, noninjury accident involving a vehicle driven by a Newton man and a deer that occurred on Kansas Highway 260 just west of 23rd Avenue.
