KCAC Men's Soccer Postseason First Round begins this week, and fourth-seeded McPherson College will play host to fifth-seed Bethany College to open things up on Saturday.
This will be a rematch of an Oct. 24 homecoming game for McPherson College (6-3, 11-5-1 overall), which saw the Bulldogs shut out Bethany (4-4-1, 4-11-1 overall) 5-0 in McPherson’s homecoming game.
Game time at McPherson Stadium is set for 2 p.m. Saturday.
The second opening round match up will see six seed Sterling (4-4-1, 7-9-2 overall) traveling to face the third seeded Ottawa (7-2, 12-6 overall) at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Sterling traveled to Ottawa during the regular season on Oct. 22, with a 3-1 Braves victory over Warriors.
Currently No. 10 in the NAIA Poll, Kansas Wesleyan was the KCAC Men's Soccer Coaches' favorite in the preseason poll. Tabor finishes the season three spots higher than coaches predicted at No. 2, Ottawa selected No. 4 in the early rankings is seeded third after a tiebreaker with Tabor. McPherson, the No. 2 preseason coaches pick, fell to the fourth seed. Sterling and Bethany's seeding came down to the fourth tie-breaker, conference goal differential, giving the Swedes fifth seed and the Warriors the sixth seed.
The winner of the McPherson/Bethany game moves on to play top-seeded Kansas Wesleyan in Salina, while the winner of the Sterling/Ottawa faces the Tabor in Hillsboro. Both semifinal games will be played at 7 p.m Wednesday.
Championship matches for both the men and women will be hosted by Southwestern College on Nov. 10.
