In three straight sets, McPherson College saw it’s season come to a close. The Bulldog volleyball team opened the KCAC Tournament as the sixth seed, drawing No. 3 Friends University as its first opponent Tuesday night, where it dropped a 3-0 decision. The Bulldogs found themselves in trouble early in game one, as Friends went on runs of 7-0 and 10-6 to close out the game 25-16. Game two started much the same, as Friends jumped out to a quick 12-2 lead over McPherson College, and the Bulldogs never really gained any traction before falling 25-13. McPherson was much more competitive in game three, battling back from a 10-5 disadvantage to tie the game up at 19-19. The Falcons would try to pull ahead of a feisty Bulldog team who tied the game up two more occasions, before Friends would score the final three points to take the match and advance to the KCAC Tournament semifinals. For McPherson, Tori Phelan led the way with nine kills and six digs, followed by Aubrey Hoover with seven kills. Katie Naccrato led the Bulldog defense with eight digs. Sophie Simon recorded the lone McPherson ace. The Bulldogs end their season at 9-26.
