  • By halftime, the crowd at the Ed Pyle Sports Complex already knew the final score of Thursday night’s game between Central Christian and Bethel was going to be ugly. The Tigers gave up 30 turnovers and shot only 25 percent from the field on the way to an 86-33 beating from Bethel College. Central struggled early, as the mistakes piled up, including 15 first half turnovers, and the Tigers went into the locker room facing a 38-17 deficit. The Tigers came out to start the second half, showing some fire they hadn’t in the first half, but Bethel slowly overpowered CCC, as the Threshers shot 58 percent from the field in the second half. Central head coach Robert Lancaster didn’t mince words after the game, saying the team didn’t execute any of the things they had worked on in practice. “We played terrible,” Lancaster said. “We made too many mistakes and too many turnovers. There wasn’t anything, really, we could take away from this.” Bethel’s Lauren Ulrich led all scorers with 15 points. For Central, Brooke Rhodes was the lone player to reach double digits with 13. Bethel’s Taylor Durant added a double-double, with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Central Christian will be at home Tuesday against McPherson College.
