Kathleen “Kathy” S. Schmidt, 67, passed away Nov. 12, 2012, at Bethesda Home in Goessel. She was born on Nov. 6, 1945, in Goessel, the daughter of Rudy and Luella Funk Schmidt. She was a member of Tabor Mennonite Church. Kathy was one of the first students of Northview Opportunity School, which later became Northview Developmental Services in which her parents were instrumental in establishing. To her family and friends, Kathy came here to teach. She taught us unconditional love, steadfast faith, and the joy of laughter and tears. She had her wings already, but today she is laughing with her savior. She is survived by her step-mother Nola K. Schmidt of Milford, Neb., brother Jim (Diana) Schmidt of Goessel, sister Mary (Todd) Ulsaker of McPherson, sister in law Jo-Ann Schmidt of Newton, step-brother Jerry (Marci) Kremer of Seward, Neb., and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Fred Schmidt, and step-brother Darrell Kremer. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Newton, with Pastors Phil Schmidt and Karen Andres officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, with family present to 8 p.m. at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Goessel.
