Senior Day proved to be a sweet, last memory for eight Bethany College seniors playing their last game at Anderson Stadium, as the Swedes rolled to a 37-26 victory over Southwestern College. Tevis Linnebur put Bethany up first with a 3 yard touchdown run with 10:29 left in the first quarter. Linnebur would add another rushing touchdown in the third quarter from 15 yards out and would finish with 162 yards rushing on the day. Senior Darby House went 13-of-20 and 103 yards passing with one touchdown, a four-yard pass to Chad Wollenberg in the first quarter to put the Swedes up 14-0. House also would carry the ball three times for six yards in his last game in a Bethany uniform, including a four yard keeper into the end zone that made it 21-10 at the half. Senior back up quarterback Zachary Waggoner also had one last moment to shine at Anderson Stadium, as he completed a 16-yard pass to D’Andre Thompson for a touchdown with 3:39 left in the game to put the Swedes up 37-26. Swede kicker Kevin Retchless booted through a 38-yard field goal as time expired in the third quarter to give Bethany a 30-17 lead. Southwestern was led in rushing by Jacobi Johnson, who accounted for 134 yards on 26 carries and one touchdown from two yards out to give the Moundbuilders their first score of the ballgame in the second quarter. Southwestern quarterback Jordan Barrett went 8-of-18 for 54 yards passing, including an 11-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter. Kicker Chris Mayer added field goals of 39 and 32 yards for the Moundbuilders. Bethany would end the day with 228 yards on the ground and 119 yards passing. The Moundbuilders rushed for 255 yards. The Swedes end their season with a 3-8 record, 2-7 in the KCAC.
