Central Christian College sent four members of the men’s and women’s cross country team to Cedarville, Ohio, Saturday for the National Christian College Athletic Association National Cross Country Championships, hosted by Cedarville University.
A total of 288 men and 255 women from 50 Universities across the country sent representatives to the meet, ranging from NAIA powerhouses to small colleges like Central.
Senior Eliud Ngetich came away with an impressive 13th place showing. For placing in the top 15 Ngetich was awarded First Team All-American honors.
“I’m extremely proud of the way Eliud closed out his season,” Central head coach Jen Ngetich said. “Honestly, the runners around him looked stronger; but when it came down to it, Eliud wanted it more.”
Representing the Lady Tigers at the meet were Twila Smedley, Becca Way, and Krystina Powell.
Powell’s 124th place finish out of the 255 competitors highlighted the women’s results.
Both Powell and Way turned in season’s best times despite the challenging course.
“Just making it to the starting line is an accomplishment for these ladies,” Ngetich said. “It speaks volumes about the progress the team has made this year and about the direction the program is headed.”
