  • BPU indicated Monday it wishes to sign a long-term water contract with the city of Windom.
Tim Maier, general manager for the McPherson Board of Public Utilities, told the McPherson City Commission Monday
Windom has had a water contract with McPherson since 1966.
McPherson supplies wholesale water to Windom through a pipe that runs from the airport to Windom.
Maier said the city of Windom does not intend to replace that line and wished for a firm contract for the long term.
Windom is a small water user, using about 40-45 gallons per minute, Maier said.
    In other business, the commission:
    • Approved a request by the McPherson Saddle Club for a parade on Dec. 1 to benefit the McPherson County Food Bank. The parade will start at Tractor Supply at 11 a.m. and end at the Community Building.
    • Approved requests by public works for Pump Design Contracts — one for motive pump replacements for SBR’s 2&3 for $24,822, and examination of Pump Station No. 4 to determine repairs or replacement a cost of $18,200.
    • Authorized public works to use $61,061 in the Federal Exchange Program funds for the Main Street Mill and Overlay project to be completed next year.
    • Approved street department requests for $4,890 for a new trailer for equipment transportation, $1,350 for a new concrete saw and $1,550 for repairs to a concrete street near 715 Loomis.
