GALVA — Doris Elene Larson, 90, of Galva, passed away at 3:45 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, peacefully, at Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson.
Doris was born in Greenfield, Iowa on Feb. 5, 1922, a daughter of the late Mary Jeanette (Adamson) and Ernest H. Kirlin.
Doris attended the Newton Iowa grade schools and graduated from Newton High School, Newton, Iowa.
Doris was a member of Galva Christian Church Galva, Kansas where she served her church in many capacities through the years.
Doris was a homemaker and worked as a tax accountant for Floyd Lietz and later for Carol Winslow and a legal secretary for Bremyer and Wise and later for Wheelborg and Embers.
Doris was a member of Eastern Star, North Diamond Ladies Club, E.H.U. and a member of the National Honor Society.
Doris Elene Kirlin was united in marriage to Oscar A. H. “Jack” Larson Jr. on Nov. 21, 1942, at the home of Reverend McConnel in Independence, Mo.
Doris is survived by her sons, Stephen Larson and wife Renie, of The Villages, Fla., Eric Larson and wife Debra, of Wichita, and Philip Larson and wife Rose, of Galva; her eight grandchildren, Scott Larson and wife Beth, Sarah Lumadue and husband Corey, James Larson and wife Amy, Rachel Nyp and husband Jon, Joseph Larson and wife Rachel, John Larson and wife Theresa, Katherine Bauerle and husband Christopher, and Kristine Larson; nine great-grandchildren, Nathan and Alice Larson, Colten and Cooper Lumadue, Alton and Olin Larson, Amelia and Grant Nyp, Ariana Larson; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Oscar A.H. Jack Larson Jr.; sisters, Agatha McDole and Carol Rabourn; and her son, Henry A. Larson.
Friends are invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Galva Christian Church, Galva, with Reverend Tripp Edwards officiating.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson.
