The Bethany College Jazz Ensemble, directed by Visiting Assistant Professor Courtney Long, M.M., will present its winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 in Burnett Center.
The Jazz Ensemble, made up of instrumental music students, will present a variety of popular styles of music including funk, swing, and everything in between. The student artists to perform are Melissa Woeppel, trumpet; Regetta Rhodeman, trumpet; Kaleb Feist, saxophone/clarinet; Tyler Breneman, piano; and Logan Schmitt, bass.
Visiting Assistant Professor Courtney Long, M.M., earned her bachelor's in saxophone performance from Friends University, where she had many great performance opportunities, including Umbria Jazz Festival and Jazz a Juan. She then received her master's in music theory and composition from Wichita State University. Long is instructing the chapel choir, jazz ensemble, music theory class, and piano class. She also composes music and has an alto saxophone position in the Wichita Wind Ensemble Professional Band.
