For the second time this season, the Central College women found themselves in overtime against Union College and, for the second time this season, the Tigers pulled out a victory. The Tigers and the Warriors battled back and forth in the first half, with Central taking a 29-27 lead into the locker room at the break. Union College mounted a comeback during the second half, tying the game about midway through the second half and extending its lead to seven. Tiger Coach Robert Lancaster made some defensive adjustments, which allowed his team to get back in the game and force the overtime as regulation ended with a 62-62 tie. Central outscored the Warriors in the extra period 9-3 to pull out the 71-65 win. “It’s always nice to be ahead on the score board at the end of the game,” Lancaster said. “We’ve got to get better on defense and capitalize better on opportunities that we create, but a win is a win and we’ll take it.” The Warriors won the rebounding battle 52-44 but coughed up the ball more than Central, committing 31 turnovers to 22. Brooke Rhodes and Harley Pate led the balanced scoring attack for the Tigers with 12 points each. Raven Void and Libby Regier both added 11 and Jaylyn Packard had 10 points. The Tigers are off until Tuesday, when they go on the road to face Manhattan Christian College.
