  • Central Christian College rolled to a 96-72 win over Union College Tuesday night, remaining perfect as the Tigers are off to their best start in recent memory. The Tigers jumped out to a quick double digit lead in the first half, taking a 48-30 lead into the locker room at the half. Central pushed its lead to 28 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half, but the Tigers backed off the accelerator slightly, and the Warriors took advantage, dropping seven three pointers to cut the lead to less than 15 with six minutes left to play. Central (9-0) put the pressure back on and hit its foul shots to extend its lead to 24 as the final buzzer sounded. “We were a bit rusty after the week off,” coach Tony Romero said. “Tonight, I felt we gave up a lot of uncontested shots, which cannot happen.” A pair of Tigers recorded double doubles, as Aaron Cannon notched 23 points and 14 rebounds and Chris Jones added 20 points and 11 boards. Kaelon Gary rounded out the Central double digit scoring with 15 points, putting him at 19 points away from the 1,000 point mark for his career.
