The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2013 Baseball Preseason All-America Team on Nov. 5. The 17-member team was selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association All-America Selection Committee.
Art Corona of Tabor College represents the KCAC. Corona finished the 2012 season as a Second Team All-American selection. The Richmond, Calif., native collected 227 at bats with 99 hits, including two doubles, four triples, and seven home runs to go along with 50 RBIs and 79 runs scored. Corona was also named KCAC Player of the Year and KCAC First Team All-Conference.
Roemon Fields of Bethany College also represents the KCAC with Preseason All-American Honors. Fields finished the 2012 season as a NAIA Honorable Mention selection, a KCAC First Team selection, and a KCAC Rawlings Gold Glove winner. Fields, a Seattle, Wash., native, complied 180 at bats with 81 hits, including 58 runs, two home runs, 35 RBIs, 13 double, and nine triples on the year.
Headlining the team are a trio of 2012 First Team All-Americans in LSU Shreveport outfielder Kyle Pearson, designated hitter Corey Davis of Lee and Robert Morris pitcher Rey Rodriguez.
Additionally, five second team award winners - Corona, Chad Gaskin of Purdue-North Central, Tanner Moore of Bellevue, Tyler Arthur of Georgetown and Chad Richie of Georgetown - were selected to the preseason squad. The remainder of the preseason squad is made up of nine honorable mentions.
