  • The McPherson Bulldogs began KCAC play Thursday night with a 67-53 win over inter-county rival Bethany, though the margin of victory could have been wider. The Bulldogs at one point held a 28-point lead over Bethany, as they were up 52-24 about five minutes into the second half. However, McPherson went cold from both the field and the foul line, allowing the Swedes to close the gap with an incredible 92.3 percent shooting from the foul line, going 12-of-13. Despite the second half slump, McPherson coach Cy Rolfs was pleased. “Anytime you can go on the road and pick up a win in our conference, it’s big,” Rolfs said. The Bulldogs’ Madison Chambers led all scorers with 18 points. Ali Brewster picked up a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. For Bethany, Kendra Austin was the leading score with 12 points, followed by Kaitlyn Norton’s 10. Both teams are back in action Saturday at 5 p.m. McPherson hosts Tabor, while Bethany faces off with Bethel.
