— McPherson resident Les Groves will sign his book, “This I Remember,” from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 8. The book is a collection of memoirs and poetry about his 38 years as a teacher in McPherson and his childhood in South Dakota, among other topics. — James Whaley will be talking about his books from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at The Bookshelf. The books are “The Girl in the Woods,” “The Valley: A Historical Novel,” “The Negotiable Life of Stella Bell,” and “Vision Quest; A Time To Live.” Whaley has taught in the middle school to high school level in the public schools and senior citizens in a lifetime learning college level program he has spent more than 34 years as a classroom teacher, and has long admired creativity. At 75 years of age and now that he is retired, he has time to enjoy the excitement of creating word images on paper. A lifelong resident of Kansas he is married with two grown daughters and two teenage grandchildren.
