United Way of McPherson County has raised 73 percent of its 2012 campaign goal.
Anne Kirchner, executive director, said campaign efforts are on schedule having raised $163,837 of the $225,000 goal.
“It’s exciting as we enter the final month of the 2012 campaign,” Kirchner said. “McPherson County has responded to our financial needs with enthusiasm and increased giving.”
The annual campaign incorporates a collaborative donor base, including individuals, small businesses, corporations and service organizations. “Almost half of the campaign pledges are obtained through employee giving campaigns sponsored by area businesses and companies,” Kirchner said. “Three businesses demonstrated 100 percent employee participation this year while many others surpassed last year’s giving totals.”
“We are fortunate to live in a community that is passionate about meeting the ongoing needs of its residents,” said Kirchner, who cautions the last stage of the campaign is the most difficult. “If we are unable to reach our campaign goal, our efforts to distribute funding to our partner agencies will be limited.”
Funds raised through the annual campaign remain in the local community and are used to provide grants to more than 20 agencies providing critical human service programs. Each agency must demonstrate financial need for specific programs addressing health, education and financial stability.
“As we enter the holiday season, it is my hope donors will remember the importance of investing in the lives of others through United Way of McPherson County,” Kirchner said.
Donations can be sent to United Way of McPherson County, P.O. Box 55, McPherson, KS 67460. All donations are tax deductible and should be postmarked by Dec. 31.
