  • The McPherson Middle School varsity wrestlers held their own in three duals Saturday against Junction City, Manhattan and Emporia. The Bullpups were faced with a disadvantage against the bigger schools, as not all the weight classes were filled, which head coach Chris Allen said cost them 36 team points each dual. The team lost to Junction City 58-44, to Manhattan 48-37 and Emporia 54-45. Individually, both Austin Eldredge and Dylan Baldwin went 3-0 on the day, with Baldwin winning each of his matches by fall. Mikey Saverino and Kobe Unruh each went 2-0, while Brynton Crews, Brice Kasting and Luke Thompson all went 2-1. Kollin Goering and Alex Grennan finished 1-2, while Andrew Trowbridge had a 1-1 record on the day. For the junior varsity, Gunnar Reiss went 2-0, while Austin Batson went 1-0 on the day. Jared Ruth went 1-3 during the duals.
