The McPherson High School girls’ basketball team dropped one spot in the latest rankings from the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. The Lady Bullpups dropped down to No. 2 in Class 4A after their 41-30 loss to Salina Central to open up the 2012-2013 season Friday night. Wamego jumped up to the top spot on the strength of a 36-32 win over Holton. Holton, Hesston and Girard comprise the rest of the top five. The Class 4A boys rankings stayed unchanged from last week, with Ottawa still sitting at No. 1, followed by Highland Park, Abilene, Coffeyville and KC-Sumner. McPherson remained at No. 10. The Moundridge boys stayed at No. 8 in the Class 2A rankings, with Meade moving up to No. 1. Sterling, last week’s top-ranked team, fell all the way to seventh. The Moundridge girls also took a tumbled, from three down to six in the girls 2A rankings. Washington County moved up to No 1, followed by Republic County.
