MMS cagers sweep Hays

The McPherson Middle School basketball teams swept Hays Middle School during play on Tuesday.
On the boys’ side, the A Team downed Hays 46-39, while the B Team won 39-20. Leading the scoring for the A Team was Brock Malm, who put up 17 points in the win. Jacob Lackey added 14, with Chris Kirchner contributing nine.
Caleb Spaich was dominate in the B Team victory, scoring 20 points on Hays. Four different Bullpups scored four points; Trey Hett, Andric McGill, Sam Wingert and Raine Reitsma.
In the girls’ contests, the A Team beat Hays 46-25, while the B Team won in overtime 33-27.
Kamryn Collins led the A Team in scoring with 16 points, followed by Emma Ellet’s 13. Emma Yowell added nine.
Megan Bennett and Gracy Feil both had 10 points for the B Team, while Jordan Bruner had six.
Next up for MMS is Wichita Sunrise Academy Monday afternoon.
