The CCC women's basketball team fell to 2-10 on the season with a 29 point loss on the road to Manhattan Christian College, 91-62.
The Crusaders raced out to a double digit lead early in the first half, but the Tigers switched to a press defense and forced the Crusaders into several turnovers late in the half. The Tigers turned those turnovers into quick buckets and trimmed the Crusader lead back to 4 at the break 36-40.
In the second half the Tiger offense went cold and the Crusaders caught fire. As fatigue set in for the Tiger defense, holes began opening up and the Crusaders began to get easy looks at the basket. The game quickly got away from the Tigers and the Crusaders raced out to a 91-62 victory.
Brooke Rhodes led all scorers in the game with 20 points before fouling out late in the second half. Krystina Powell was the other Tiger in double figures with 11.
The Crusaders had 4 players score in double figures led by Sarah Wenger with 19. In the battle of the Hawthorne sisters, CCC's Sarah Hawthorne outscored younger sibling Rebecca, who plays for MCC, 9-7.
The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday at home against Ozark Christian College. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
