Jim Greischar, 82, of McPherson, Kan., passed away at 9:06 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, while in the company of family members, at his home.

Jim Greischar, 82, of McPherson, Kan., passed away at 9:06 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, while in the company of family members, at his home. James was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota on Dec. 7, 1929, the only son and child of Elizabeth Marie (Spitzner) and Raymond Victor Greischar. Jim attended St. James Catholic School in St. James, Minn., a country school near Richmond, Kansas and graduated from Richmond High School in 1947. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, Kan. He was Baptized in St. James, Minnesota Jim spent the majority of his working career as a Store Manager having managed for F.W. Woolworth for 10 years, TG&Y and McCrory for 35 years, and Alco for seven years. After his retirement he was a contract driver for Lacy Motors and Midway Motors for 13 years. Jim was a member of the (noon) Kiwanis Club, 66 year member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus of McPherson and Blackwell, Okla., vice president of the Thanksgiving Community Inc and Volunteer Chairman for 15 years and was a former member of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce through the T.G.&Y. Store. Jim was united in marriage to Barbara Jane Ferguson on April 25, 1953, at Richmond, Kan., at St. Therese Catholic Church. Surviving family members include his loving and devoted wife of over fifty-nine years, Barbara Greischar, of McPherson, Kan.; his children, Kathey Bengtson and her husband Don, of Lindsborg, Kan., Kevin Greischar and his wife Ronda, of Kansas City, Mo., Karyne Schrag and her husband Greg, of McPherson, Kan., and Kristyne Thompson and her husband Wayne, of McPherson, Kan.; his nine grandchildren, twins Brad Bengtson and his wife Jess and Brian Bengtson, Mark Bengtson, Michael Thompson and his wife Chelsea, Taylor Thompson, twins Kylie Greischar and Dustin Greischar, twins Brooke Schrag and Elle Schrag; his four great-grandchildren, Carter Bengtson, Rorey Bengtson, and twins Taylin Thompson and Taytum Thompson; other relatives and a host of friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kelley Raymond Greischar on Dec. 7, 2003. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a Rosary to follow at 7:15 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at First Christian Church, McPherson, Kan., with Reverend Lynn Scott officiating. Final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.
