The Wildcat boys were dominating for three quarters during Thursday’s nightcap at the Moundridge Preseason Basketball Classic, as Lyons couldn’t answer the Moundridge onslaught, falling 68-52.
The Wildcats kept up the pressure for the first half and took a 33-21 lead into the locker room before exploding nearly 20 points in the third quarter and holding the Lions to a mere six.
Moundridge led 51-27 heading into the fourth quarter.
Lyons’ Grady Kirkhart led all scorers with 25 points, followed closely behind by Moundridge’s Daniel Ratzlaff, who scored 22. Also scoring double digits for Moundridge was Tyler Kaufman and Hunter Enyart, both with 13 points, and Ryan Lorimor, who added 11.
Ryan McClure was the only other Lion in double digits with 10.
Inman 47, Hillsboro 44
Inman went down to the wire against Hillsboro, but the Teutons emerged victorious 47-44 in Moundridge Preseason Basketball Classic.
The score was tied at 11 after a quarter, but Inman pulled ahead at the half 27-21.
Hillsboro’s Shaq Thiessen cled all scorers with 22 in the Trojans’ losing effort, while teammate Brett Weinbrenner added 11 points. Justin Friesen led three Teutons in double digits with 14 points, followed by Josh Miller’s 13 and Alex Ropp with 10 points.
Inman now faces Moundridge tonight in the Classic’s final game.
