The McPherson College Lady Bulldogs continued their winning ways in the KCAC Thursday night with a 67-62 victory over Ottawa University.
McPherson shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and went 3-of-7 from behind the three point arc to carry a 32-23 lead into the locker room at the break. The Bulldogs defense held the Lady Braves to only 9-of-25 field goal shooting in the first period and a dismal 20 percent from long range in the first half.
Ottawa (3-9, 0-3 KCAC) was able to claw their way back, though, as the roles reversed in the second half. McPherson’s second half offensive output stalled to 32.3 percent field goal shooting in the second half, averaging out to 40.7 percent for the game. The Bulldogs didn’t manage a three point bucket at all in the final period.
McPherson (6-5, 2-1 KCAC) won the war under the glass, picking up 42 rebounds to Ottawa’s 28. Mac College also had fewer turnovers at 13 to 15.
Ottawa’s Amber Ramsey led all scorers with 23 points as the only Brave to reach double digits.
McPherson’s Brittany Pittas had 20 points, while teammate Madison Chambers picked up a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kaylee Cramer and Ali Brewster also scored 10 points for McPherson.
The Bulldogs are on the road once more Saturday, as they travel to Winfield to face Southwestern at 5 p.m.
