Two members of the Bethany College football team were named 2012 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes as announced by the National office on Dec. 11.
Nicholas Junker, is a junior linebacker from Belleville, majoring in social science teaching. He is the son of Jerry and Marcia Junker.
Junker racked up 24 solo tackles and assisted in 24 others this past season as a Swede. He had 8.5 tackles for loss, costing opponents 21 yards for the season.
Haydon Parks, is a senior tight end from Osage City, majoring in health and physical education. He is the son of Duane and Christine Parks.
Parks averaged nine yards a catch and 18 yards a game for the Swedes this past season.
Junker and Parks were two of 259 football student-athletes across the country to earn this honor.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
