Everyone is invited to a special performance of Christmas music from the McPherson College choir on Sunday.
The performance — “Christmas at McPherson: From Darkness to Light” will begin at 7 p.m. in the McPherson Church of the Brethren. The concert will begin with music evoking “darkness,” that is, themes focusing on the time leading to the birth of Jesus Christ. The concert concludes with music bringing forth themes of “light” – the rejoicing and celebration following Christ’s birth.
Works include pieces by Christiansen, Handel, Rachmaninoff and Mendelssohn. The audience also will have an opportunity to sing several Christmas carols along with the choir.
The McPherson College Choir is directed by Josh Norris, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. A free-will offering will be received at the door to help underwrite expenses of the concert.
