Peoples Bank and Trust has made an application to the FDIC to acquire the Citizens Community Bank Branch in McPherson from Citizens State Bank of Wisner, Neb.
The purchase would only include the McPherson location at 822 N. Main St.
Tom Harms, Peoples president, said he had few details to release until the FDIC application is resolved. That should take 60 to 90 days. The bank has a target of February for the completion of the acquisition.
If the FDIC approves Peoples’ request, Harms said it is the bank’s goal to provide a seamless transition for its customers.
“There are always changes. The accounts will be changed over. We fully expect it to go relatively smoothly,” Harms said.
Harms said it is possible Peoples will move its branch at First and Main to the 822 N. Main St. location.
Harms did not release any information on staffing.
A call to Citizens officials in Wisner was not returned as of press time.
