Ellen Peck and Kari Moddelmog's fifth-grade classes at Eisenhower Elementary School had their annual food drive in order to give food to those in need. To add a little fun to the event, Peck and Moddelmog made a competition between the girls and boys. The boys collected 210 pounds of food and the girls collected 153 pounds of food. The kids practiced their math skills while adding up the ounces and converting them to pounds to reach their totals. Even though the boys won the competition, the fifth-graders felt great that together they could give just more than 360 pounds of food this year to the McPherson County Food Bank and families in need.
