Berniece G. Everhart, 79, life long resident of Herington, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the Herington Municipal Hospital. She was born Nov. 30, 1933, in rural Herington, the daughter of Gottfried and Sadie Brunner.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating; burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 3 pm until 7 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mrs. Everhart was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she went to parochial school, was baptized, confirmed and married.
She married Charles “Bob” R. Everhart on Aug. 1, 1970, at St. Paul's; he survives. Survived by three sons: Raymond Staatz (wife-Teresa) of Pipestone, Minn., Ronald Staatz of Herington,
Dennis Everhart of Konawa, Okla.; a daughter Terri Gravley (husband-Mitch) of Kansas City; a brother Floyd Brunner of Paris, Texas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her first husband Kenneth Staatz on July 13, 1969; three brothers (Alvin, Ervin, Edwin), and four sisters (Bertha Wendlandt, Esther Kohlieber, Helen Alt, Clara Longhofer), and her parents.
The family requests memorials, in lieu of flowers, to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Herington Hospital Foundation, or Dickinson County Hospice; and they may be sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449-3038.
