Marie Johnson, 90, of Windom died Dec. 7, 2012, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home in Little River.
She was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Ravanna, Mo., to Jesse Snyder and Mae Aline Tinnen Wile. She was a longtime resident of Windom.
She was a registered nurse, retiring from McPherson Hospital after 25 years.
She graduated from Windom High School and Wesley Hospital School of Nursing, Wichita.
She was in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, serving during World War II.
She was a former member of the United Methodist Church and UMW at Windom; Eastern Star; Ladies Aide, Windom; and Kitchenettes of the McPherson Senior Center.
She married Duane D. Johnson on July 8, 1944, in Gulfport, Miss. He died Sept. 14, 1994. Survivors include daughter, Jackie and Tim Oglesby, Buhler; three sons, Patrick and Cathy Johnson, Little River, Carlton and Jill Johnson, Tulsa, Okla., Doug Johnson, Duncan, Okla.; sister, Kathryn “Kate” Kittell, Weslaco, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip Wile and Robert Wile; two sisters, Betty Lou Lindholm and Juanita Wright; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at United Methodist Church, Little River, with military honors by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Pastor Josh Johnson will officiate.
Private family burial will be at Windom Cemetery, Windom.
