LeRoy T. (Swede) Erickson, 86, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, suddenly, at McPherson Hospital, McPherson, Kan.
LeRoy was born in McPherson, Kan., on Dec. 20, 1926, a son of the late Nellie A (Bentson) and Carl Elmer Erickson. He was the third of five children born to this union.
He attended the West Kentuck and New Gottland schools and McPherson High School.
He was a lifetime member of New Gottland Lutheran Church McPherson, Kan.
He was a farmer and stockman. He also worked at BPU in McPherson, Kan., as a lineman and a tree trimmer.
LeRoy T. Erickson was united in marriage to Mary Ann Mattas on Nov. 1, 1952, at McPherson, Kan., they were married at McPherson, Kan.
Survivors include: Wife Mary Ann Erickson, of McPherson, Kan.; Son Garry, husband of Teresa Erickson, of McPherson, Kan.; Son Richard Erickson, of McPherson, Kan.; Son Steve, husband of Laraine Erickson, of McPherson, Kan.; Daughter Sarah, wife of Wesley, Jr. Burk, of McPherson, Kan.; Daughter Sandy, wife of Dale Fishback, of McPherson, Kan.; Sister Eleanor Kennedy, of McPherson, Kan.; Sister Lois Winter, of Florence, Kan.; Grandchildren, Lisa Erickson, Katherine (Chad) Loder, Amy (Jeff) Rozelle, Tim (Stephanie) Erickson, Wiley Shearhart, Erik (Heather R.) Burk, Heather M. Burk, Ethan Burk, Nathan Fishback, and Mandi (Mike) Sims; Great-grandchildren, Kaylee Loder, Allison Rozelle, Maya Rozelle, Laya Erickson, Kendall Erickson, Grady Burk, Naomi Fishback, Daezia Harris, Dayana Fishback, and Jasyn Edwards.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Nellie Erickson; a son, Michael Erickson; his two brothers, Carl "CJ", and Clinton "Eric" Erickson.
Friends are invited to call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, with the family present, at the New Gottland Lutheran Church, New Gottland, Kan.
The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, the New Gottland Lutheran Church, New Gottland, Kan., with Reverend Harry Grinstad officiating.
Private family interment of cremated remains in New Gottland Lutheran Church Cemetery will precede the memorial service.
