  • Eric Abraham will be the Artist-in-Residence at the Red Barn Studio Museum, 212 S. Main, Lindsborg Jan. 2 through Jan. 30. During his residency, Eric will be creating three-dimensional drawings incorporating glass.
    ”I let the pieces grow and develop as I go,” he said. “Sometimes I am actually quite surprised at what develops. I had the idea of incorporating glass in the drawings and after the first one they seemed to flow quite well. I wish to continue the trend.”
    Education, career
    Eric has been the Artist-in-Residence in numerous schools throughout Colorado and in Wichita. His work has won awards and been included in many exhibitions throughout the United States. From 1972 to the present, he has been a self-employed artist. He lives and works in a converted Chevrolet dealership building in Lucas, Kan.
    Eric received his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1963 and his MFA from the University of Nebraska in 1969. Teaching positions include University of Nebraska, Graduate Assistant 1966-69, Kansas State University, 1969-71, Colorado Mountain College, 1972-83, American University, Washington, D.C., 1976 and Pittsburg State University, 1977-80.
    “I try to enjoy and have some fun with my work,” he said. “I find it very rewarding to be able to share my work and aesthetics with others.”
    Teaching classes
    During his residency, Eric will be teaching an adult “Fun with Clay,” workshop from 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 12 and Jan. 19. Cost is $45 for members, $60 for non-members and includes all materials.
