  • Obituary: Leonard Harvey "Len" Eaton

  • Leonard H Eaton, 89, of McPherson, Kan. passed away at 9:32 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 28, peacefully, at McPherson Hospital, McPherson, Kan. Leonard was born on his parents farm near Mason City, Neb. on April 29, 1923, the son of Mabel Jeanette (Elwood) and Harve Irvin Eaton.

  • Leonard H Eaton, 89, of McPherson, Kan. passed away at 9:32 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 28, peacefully, at McPherson Hospital, McPherson, Kan. Leonard was born on his parents farm near Mason City, Neb. on April 29, 1923, the son of Mabel Jeanette (Elwood) and Harve Irvin Eaton.
    Leonard attended country schools near Ansley and Ansley High School, Ansley, Neb.
    Leonard was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson, Kan.
    Leonard served in the U.S. Navy as a Motor Machinist Mate 3rd Class in World War II and was honorably discharged.
    Leonard worked as an Operator for the National Cooperative Refinery Association, McPherson, for 42 years.
    Leonard was a member of the Elk's Lodge No. 502 B.P.O.E., and the American Legion Post 24 both of McPherson, Kan.
    Leonard Harvey Eaton was united in marriage to Doris Elaine Yowell on July 23, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, Kan. Doris died on June 11, 2012.
    Surviving family members include his daughters, Lenette Bolnick and her husband Mike, of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Barbara VonFeldt and her husband David, of Topeka, Kan; his four grandchildren, Douglas Bolnick, of St. Louis, Mo., Deb Bolnick, of Flower Mound, Texas, Jennifer VonFeldt-Bennett and her husband Klinten, of Greenwood, Mo., and Brian VonFeldt and his wife Christina, of Olathe, Kan.; his great-grandson, Colin Adrian VonFeldt; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
    Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Harve and Mabel Eaton; his wife Doris Yowell Eaton; two brothers, Leo and Harold Eaton; a half bother, Irvin Eaton and two half sisters, Goldie Real and Eva Eaton.
    Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kan.
    Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 31at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kan., with The Reverend Tim Leaf officiating.
    Final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kan., with military honors presented by members of the American Legion Post 2715 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 both of McPherson.
    Memorial contributions may be given to Diabetes Association or American Heart Association or Trinity Lutheran Church and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, KS 67460.
