McPherson County Extension’s Master Gardeners and Friends have worked hard to put together the annual horticulture program. This program is open to anyone interested in horticulture, and who wishes to become more informed on horticulture topics.
The schedule is:
Jan. 17: Planting Perennials for Continuous Bloom
Feb. 21: Vegetable Gardening
March 21: Water Wise — How Do I Water My Lawn and Landscape?
April 18: Prairie Star Flowers
Sept. 19: Spectacular Shrubs
Oct. 17: Winter Gardening in Kansas Without a Greenhouse
These lectures will take place on their designated dates at the 4-H Building at 710 W. Woodside in McPherson. Cost to attend is $5, with all youth 18 years and younger admitted for free. All lectures will begin at 7 p.m.
McPherson Counties Master Gardener and Friends group is very active within the county. In 2012, they provided more than 2,400 volunteer hours to the local communities.
Anyone interested in becoming a Master Gardener should call or stop by the Extension Office to receive information on an upcoming Master Gardener certification program being offered in Salina next year.
