Pauline Whirley was born on Oct. 4, 1910, to Joseph and Bertha (Mann) Huber in Pomeroy, Iowa. She spent most of her childhood in Rantoul, where she attended grade school and graduated from Rantoul High School. She enjoyed her work as a bookkeeper.
She married Fred Whirley on Nov. 27, 1930, in Webber. Together, they lived in McPherson, from 1931-2007. She was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church in McPherson.
She enjoyed volunteering at the local nursing homes. Her pastimes were reading, knitting and cooking. Pauline was living at Platte Care Center in Platte, S.D., where she died on Dec. 28, 2012, at the age of 102.
She is survived by a daughter, Fran Harrington of Armour, S.D., grandchildren; Douglas Whirley of Kansas City, Kan., Brad (Candy) Whirley of Kansas City, Kan., Kimberly Whirley of Kansas City, Kan., daughter-in-law, Sue (Fred) Huse of Lenexa, grandchildren, William (Jackie) Harrington of Corsica, S.D., Janette Moller of Sioux Falls, S.D., Marlene (Jeff) Cleveland of Corsica, S.D., Timothy (Dionne) Harrington of Armour, S.D., Daniel (Tracy) Harrington of Platte, S.D., Steve (Amy) Harrington of Armour, S.D., Curt (Tammi) Whirley, 15 great-grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Fred, brother Manley Huber, sisters, Ann Mountain and Marcella Fulmar, son, Berard, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
