Julian Yamada, 63, formerly of McPherson, Kan., passed away on Dec. 13, 2012, in Kansas City, Mo. Julian had battled lung cancer for two and a half years.
Julian was born on Jan. 24, 1949, in Koror, Republic of Palau, to Abraham and Magdalena Yamada. There were a total of six children to the family. Julian attended Catholic schools throughout high school. He then moved to McPherson to pursue a sports scholarship with McPherson College and earned a bachelor’s degree.
He married and had two children. Julian remained in the McPherson area where he worked as a pipeline fractionator for various companies; most notably 15 years with Enterprise Pipelines Inc.
His hobbies included softball, fishing and sports. His passion was spending quality time with good friends, his children and grandchildren.
Funeral services were performed by McGilley State Line Chapel in Kansas City, Mo.
A Catholic funeral was conducted in the family home on the island of Angaur, Republic of Palau and burial took place in Angaur Cemetery on Dec. 27, 2012.
He is survived by a son Darren Yamada of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter Kerry (Jeff) Yamada Jones of Overland Park; brothers: David Yamada of Koror, Palau; Romanus Yamada of Guam, and Orak Yamada of Louisville, Ky.; sisters: Thomasa Mauldin of Fairfield, Calif.; and Helen Yamada of Koror, Palau; and two grandchildren: Carlyn Jones and Kaylie Yamada. Julian is preceded in death by both his father and mother and brother Emiliano Yamada of Angaur, Palau.
