  • Alan David Brown, 75, of McPherson, Kan., passed away at 1:35 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, while in the company of family members, at McPherson Hospital, McPherson.

  • Alan David Brown, 75, of McPherson, Kan., passed away at 1:35 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, while in the company of family members, at McPherson Hospital, McPherson.
    Alan was born in Caney, on Nov. 5, 1937, a son of Elnora Grace (Smith) and Oliver James Brown.
    Alan attended the Andover country school, Windom grade school and graduated from Windom High School, Windom, in 1956. Alan then attended Bethany College, Lindsborg. Alan honorably served in the United States Air National Guard.
    Alan was a member of First United Methodist Church McPherson.
    Through the years, Alan worked at the Mill in Inman, as a shop employee for Uni-Temp Products, Roll Form Operator for Continental Aluminum, Modern Products, Western Manufacturer in Hutchinson as Plant Manager, Vulcan Metals and retired from Moridge Manufacturing in Moundridge.
    Alan D. Brown was united in marriage to Maureen Ann Wiens on May 27, 1961, at Inman.
    Alan D. Brown was united in marriage to Nancy Clare Giunta on Nov. 7, 1969, in McPherson. Nancy died on August 22, 1996.
    Surviving family members include his son, Lance Brown and his wife Linda, of McPherson; his grandchildren, Cheryl Brandsted and her husband Erick, of Osage Beach, Mo., Jennifer Wells and her husband Marcus, of McPherson, and Seth Brown and Ken Skilnick of Abbotsford, BC; his sister Marilyn Miller and her husband Donald, of Little River; his great-grandchildren, Kaylee Brown, Emma Regnier, Nina Brandsted, and Peyton Wells; his step-grandchildren Tyson Owens, Justin Green, and Haleigh Owens, all of McPherson; his step-great-grandchildren, Izyck Owens and Alexias Green; many nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
    Alan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Nancy (Giunta) Brown; brothers, Jerry and Dale Brown; sisters, Lorna Briggs, Bonnie Berg, and Rita Myers.
    Friends also are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
    Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, McPherson, with Reverend Mike Marion and Reverend Harold Nelson officiating.
    The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, with military honors presented by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 and American Legion Post 24 both of McPherson.
