Maize — McPherson High placed six wrestlers Saturday at the Maize Invitational, while the team finished ninth on the day.
Kaden Kretzer had the best showing for the Bullpups, going 3-1 at 120 pounds to take second place at the invite.
Travis Steenson went 2-1 at 182 an Cole Kretzer went 1-3 at 113 to both take home fourth place finishes Saturday.
Ethan VanDorn, Ethan Fowler and T.J. Stites all finished fifth for MHS. VanDorn had a 2-2 record at 106, Fowler was 3-2 at 138 and Stites was 3-2 at 152.
McPherson finished the day with 109 points. Shawnee Heights finished first with 232.5 points, followed by Emporia (183.5) and Lawrence (180). Maize South and Andale rounded out the top five in the invitational.
MHS is next on the mat Thursday evening with a 6 p.m. dual against Winfield.
They have a quick turnaround after that, as they take part in the Newton Invitational Friday and Saturday. Other teams involved in that invite include Arkansas City, Emporia, Hutchinson, Manhattan and Wichita Heights.
