McPherson’s Derick Goodson broke a team record in the 200-yard freestyle Saturday at the El Dorado Invitational, helping the Bullpups to a 12th place finish.
Goodson finished the race with a time of 1:50.31, good enough for second place in the event. He also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.78 seconds.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Goodson, Zane Richter, Ryen Trost and Kyler Jost finished eighth with a time of 1:44.81.
Trost, Jost, Russell Regehr and Spencer Steinert swam the 200-yard medley in a time of 2:15.59.
Other individual competitors for MHS included Steinert, who swam the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 28.81, while Trost swam the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:05.69.
Regehr finished the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:25.94.
Kapaun Mt. Carmel finished first in the team scores, followed by Maize South, Bishop Carroll, Wichita Northwest and Wichita Collegiate.
The Pups are back in the pool today, as they take part in the Hutchinson Invitational at 3:30 p.m.
