  • Goldie Marie Becker, 73, of Canton, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, while in the company of family members, at her residence.

  • Goldie Marie Becker, 73, of Canton, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, while in the company of family members, at her residence.
    Goldie was born on Jan. 19, 1939, in Larned, a daughter of the late Anna M. (Knoll) and Andy O. Clarkson.
    She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School in Larned, graduated from Larned High School, and attended Hutchinson Junior College, Hutchinson.
    Goldie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church McPherson.
    She was a homemaker and worked as a dietary aide at Shiloh Manor, Canton, and Pine Village, Moundridge.
    Goldie was an active member of American Legion Post No. 192 Ladies Auxiliary, Canton, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2715 Ladies Auxiliary, McPherson.
    She was the wife of Larry D. Becker. On Oct. 6, 1957, they were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned.
    Goldie is survived by her husband, Larry, and children; daughter Reba Marie (Duane) Becker, of Lindsborg; daughter Stephanie K. (Eric Peterson) Becker, of Olathe; son Justin Wade Becker, of Canton; daughter Denise Rose Becker, of Canton; brother Andy O. (Carol) Clarkson, of Chester, Ill.; two granddaughters Monica Becker and Alexis Liles; other relatives and friends.
    Goldie was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Larry A. Clarkson; a half-sister, Leota Turner; a baby daughter, Anna Christine; and a brother-in-law, Les Turner.
    Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson.
    The rosary service will follow at 7:15 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, with Fr. Hien Nguyen officiating.
    Burial will follow in Canton Township Cemetery Canton.
    Memorials are suggested to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2715, McPherson, or American Cancer Society or American Legion Post No. 192, Canton, and may be sent in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, KS 67460.
