  • The McPherson High bowling team opened up the home portion of their season Friday as they hosted Salina Sacred Heart and Buhler at Starlight Lanes.

  • The McPherson High bowling team opened up the home portion of their season Friday as they hosted Salina Sacred Heart and Buhler at Starlight Lanes.
    The Bullpups only faced Sacred Heart during the match, where the boys fell by a score of 2,588-2,442.
    The girls were unopposed during the match, as the Knight didn’t field a girls’ team. Jacob Lehmen was the top Bullpup bowler with games of 198, 190 and 246 for a combined score of 634.
    Joel Morey strung together several solid games for the Pups, bowling a 230, 188 and a 198 for a total score of 616. Levi Holgerson was right behind with games of 224, 172 and 193 for a total of 589.
    Other total scores for MHS included Matt Nelson with 560, Jacob Helmer with 556 and Brett Harzell with 538.
    While the girls were unopposed, they did go ahead and bowl the three games. Crystal Nutter had a combined score of 530 with games of 191, 186 and 153 to claim the top bowler honors for McPherson.
    The bowlers are next in action Friday afternoon, when they host Augusta at Starlight Lanes beginning at 3:30 p.m.
