The following are local agriculture-related events open to the public:
Women Involved in Agriculture: increasing activity
The local Women Involved in Agriculture group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Lindsborg. The topic will be on increasing activity in daily routine.
This group is made up of women who are involved in various aspects of agriculture.
They would like to increase their membership and extend an invitation to all other women involved in agriculture.
This group meets the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m. The meeting location rotates between Lindsborg and McPherson. There is no charge to attend. The topics covered are decided by the group and usually center around agriculture or family issues.

Ag profitability conference
K-State Research & Extension of McPherson County will be hosting the ag profitability conference at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 5 at the Best Western Holiday Manor Convention Center meeting room.
The schedule is as follows:
–Human resource management in Kansas - Greg Hadley, KSU
–Beef cattle outlook, profitability drivers, and global position impacts on the U.S. beef industry future - Glynn Tonsor (via distance presentation)
–How the federal reserve can affect agriculture - Brian Briggeman (via distance presentation)
–Crop profitability outlook for 2013 and a Farm Bill Update - Troy Dumler
Lunch will be provided and registration for the event if $20 if received by Feb. 1. Contact the local extension office at 620-241-1523 to register.
