Rev. Jim Bishop, 76, of McPherson, passed away at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Reno County.
Jim was born on Feb. 14, 1936, in Jasper, Va., a son of the late Elva Jane (Reed) and James Conley Bishop Sr.
Jim attended Jasper Elementary School and graduated from Dryden High School in 1955 from Dryden, Va.
Jim was Pastor of McPherson Apostolic Church, McPherson.
Jim honorably served in the U.S. Air Force.
Through the years, Jim served his country in the United States Air Force and honorably served his country as a radio operator, worked as a cashier, and slot machine mechanic for the
Primadonna Casino, worked as a slot mechanic for Harold's Club and MGM all of Reno, Nev., and was a lay minister for United Pentecostal Church of Sparks, Nev., and was currently pastor of the McPherson Apostolic Church of McPherson.
Jim was united in marriage to Carolyn S. Keyes on Sept. 15, 1958, at Reno, Nev.
Jim is survived by his wife Carolyn S. Bishop, of McPherson; his sons Robert Bishop and his wife Diane, of McPherson, and Greg Bishop and his wife Patricia, of Sparks, Nev.; his brother Dane Bishop, of Titusville, Fla.; his sisters Edith Vaughan, of Duffield, Va., and Lillian Legg, of Big Stone Gap, Va.; his grandchildren Nicole McClure and her husband Matthew, of Sparks, Nev., Matthew Bishop, of McPherson, Kan., and Danielle Bishop, of McPherson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Otelia Still, Loretta Galotta, Lelia Fritz, and Jeanette Cappelman.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the McPherson Apostolic Church, McPherson.
