The Elyria Christian School Junior High basketball teams hosted the Wichita Defenders Monday, splitting their games on the afternoon.
In the girls’ game, Elyria avenged a loss at the beginning of the season on Nov. 8 with a 28-25 victory.
The win increased the team’s winning streak to three in a row and moved the Eagles to 4-7 on the year.
In the boys game, Elyria Christian struggled against a much taller Defenders team, falling 52-20.
The Eagles were led by eighth grader Wiliam Unruh, who had 10 points on the night.
The boys record falls to 8-3 on the year.
The Wichita Defenders are a team comprised of home schooled students.
Only a pair of games remain in the regular season for Elyria.
They will travel to Goessel on Thursday. Tipoff is at 4 p.m.
Elyria ends its regular season on Jan. 21 at home against Hope Middle School. Tipoff is again at 4 p.m.
Postseason tournament quarterfinals will be held on Jan. 24, with the semis on Jan. 26.
