With the 49th Annual McPherson Invitational getting underway tomorrow, those attending are being asked to help out a good cause as they take in the games.
The McPherson High School English department is holding a food drive benefitting the McPherson County Food Bank through the end of the week, and will be taking donations during the three day tournament.
According to MHS English teacher Erica Shook, the drive started in conjunction with the National Day of Service on Jan. 21 and also as part of the high school’s C3 initiative.
Donation boxes will be placed outside the entrance to the Roundhouse in the Activity Center.
Shook said they are looking for items such as canned chicken, powdered milk, canned tuna, saltine crackers, soups, juices, and white rice, jarred or canned spaghetti sauce, spaghetti, grape jelly, canned vegetables, breakfast cereals, pork and beans, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese and canned fruit.
The McPherson Invitational begins tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
