  • Bethany’s Tanya Garner had 24 points Tuesday night against Sterling, but it wasn’t enough, as the Swedes fell to the Warriors 78-73 in a heart-stopping double overtime game.
Bethany held a slim, 24-20 lead at the half by doing just enough from the field, shooting 8-of-26. Sterling was just behind with 6-of-27 shooting, not a sterling perfomance for either team.
The second half saw the Warrior defense step up, holding the Swedes to only 18 total shots in the period, only making nine of those.
Still, the Warriors couldn’t put away a frisky Swedes team that kept it tied at the end of regulation 55-55.
The first extra period was a defensive battle that yielded a 64-64 gridlock. The Swedes seemed to run out of steam towards the end of the second overtime, though, as the Warriors won 78-73.
The Swedes fall to 2-17 overall and 1-8 in KCAC play.
Bethany faces McPherson Saturday evening at 5 p.m. at the McPherson Sport Center.
