The seedings for a stacked Mid-America Classic were released Wednesday and it was no surprise undefeated Andale sat at the top of the heap.
The Indians (10-0) have been on a roll of late, winning Tuesday night against Buhler 59-37. Andale is followed by Olathe South, also undefeated at 9-0, McPherson (8-2), Manhattan (7-2) and Valley Center (6-3).
Hays (5-5) is seeded sixth, with Dodge City (2-6) and Wichita Southeast rounding out the 2013 Classic field.
This is a powerhouse field, with five teams ranked in their respective classes by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. Olathe South and Manhattan sit at Nos. 2 and 9 as of Monday, while Valley Center is ranked 10th in Class 5A. Class 4A has McPherson ranked third and Andale sitting at ninth.
The Bullpups begin play in the late game next Thursday, facing off with sixth seed Hays, which is a rematch of last year’s 2012 Mid-America Classic championship game, won by MHS 52-42.
Manhattan opens up the tournament against Valley Center in the 3 p.m. game, followed by Andale and Wichita Southeast. Olathe South and Dodge City have the 6 p.m. slot.
