The accolades continue for McPherson High girls’ basketball star Katelyn Loecker, as she was named Thursday to the McDonald’s All American Games girls’ roster.
Loecker is one of three Kansas players selected to the games, which will be played April 3 at the United Center in Chicago. She is the only female player chosen.
Joining Loecker in representing Kansas on the boys’ roster will be Conner Frankamp, a KU recruit from Wichita North High School, and Tray Wheeler from Highland Park High School in Topeka.
“This state has a long history of elite basketball talent,” Tim Lane, McDonald’s Co-op President, said. “The McDonald’s All-American Games presents the opportunity to preview the country’s up and coming basketball talent and we’re excited to have McPherson and Kansas represented by Katelyn Loecker.”
The 6-0 Loecker is averaging 17 points and 10 rebounds for for McPherson this season as the Bullpups gear up for the Mid-America Classic next week at the Roundhouse in McPherson.
She is also the reigning Gatorade Kansas Player of the Year and has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls after she graduates from McPherson High this spring.
The girls’ game will be broadcast on ESPNU at 6 p.m. April 3.
