Mac College uses old Dillons as training facility

McPherson College’s baseball and softball teams have a new indoor facility.

The old Dillons facility, at the intersection of Euclid and Ash, was purchased by the college in June 2011.

Until the college determines a more permanent use for the facility, head baseball coach Andrew Ehling has been given free access.

The old store is currently outfitted with a number of safety nets strewn across the building, creating two batting cages and a pitching area.

Ehling said he’s coordinating with different baseball and softball teams in the community, including the McPherson High School, to create a calendar to determine who uses the facility at what times.

“We want to make it a community-used facility,” Ehling said. “Hopefully, it’ll be a good thing.”
